AND SO IT BEGINS!!!
Ladies and gents, boys and girls,
It is my extreme pleasure to welcome all of you to the Trans America Trek website!! Finally, after years of talking about it, thinking about it, procrastinating about it, THE TREK is now officially launched. So take a few minutes, browse the website, leave comments in the blog section, enjoy the content, let know what you like, what you dislike, join the Facebook group (the more people who join, the more my potential sponsors will love me), admire multiple pictures of myself and the JEEP in the photo gallery, and if you feel like it donate, a few shillings, dollars, pesos, wons, euros, golden gallions... and help me reach my goal: building a new school for street kids for the Bruce Organization in Peru.
Speaking of the Bruce organization, please take a few moments and check out their website at www,brucenet.net and have a look at the work they do in Latin America. Over the next months I will post a more detail picture of the work they do and other ways you can help.
SO... A FEW THANK YOUS
First, let me extend my deepest thank you to a few people who've been helping out over the last year.
Steve "Spud" Spurell who, for the last months, has been working day and night (well mostly the odd days) on the website. With only a few directions from myself: "Spud, can you make me a rugged looking website for The Trek" he came up with a truly professional looking site that captures the spirit of adventure and education I was looking for. Special mention to Yaser "Bengals" Abou Elenein, the smallest giant, who volunteered to take over Spud's work while he's gone roaming the world in December.
Mark "Maaaaaaaaaaaa" Basquille who came up with the logo for Trans America Trek with the only direction being: "Mark, going to drive my truck all over the place, building a website, need a logo". Basquille also still manages to live through my random 4 o'clock in the morning calls due to my lack of coming with terms with transatlantic time differences.
Claudia "The Queen" Mills who for months as been encouraging, supporting, and guiding me through my excesses and doubts.
And a big thank you to all of you who encouraged me, supported me, and didn't make me feel like a nutcase.
And before I forget, a special mention to those who did say it was a dumb idea, that it couldn't be done, that it was too dangerous... Your doubts and negativity pushed me harder than you can imagine!
AND A FEW PLANS...
So this is it, the beginning... of a lot more work to come!! as you may have notice, a few spots on the website are still empty, and a lot of goals need to be reached.
For the next months I'll be concentrating mostly on raising money for the charity, fixing the truck, harassing sponsors, and building a semi-professional conference to present in schools, social clubs, and the likes.
If you know, or are yourself, someone who would like to give a bit of time to help out, has access to potential sponsors, would like to have a talk on Street Kids and The Trek given at your school, social club, church, or who like to participate in any way to my fundraising efforts, please contact me by email at jfchapman@transamericatrek.org and I'll be more than happy to listen.
Finally, one of the special project will be researching facts to put in the EDUCATION section. My own personal slaves/students will be doing this task in their geography classes in the next month. As many of you know, on top of working in a rehab center for kids dealing with drug and alcohol problems, I also work with kids dealing with learning disabilities and behavioural problems in a high school. My kids will be helping me loads in the next months and will be more than happy to show the results of their hard fact finding mission with all of you!
So sit back, relax and enjoy the Trek!!

Excellent initiative! I wish you the best of luck on this noble adventure. It's really nice to see that there are people who still care, long after many others have stopped.
